25.03.2025### IPL 2025: Harry Brook Withdraws from Tournament
**By Cricbuzz Staff**
In a significant development, England’s middle-order batsman Harry Brook has decided to withdraw from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The decision comes as Brook prioritizes his responsibilities with the national team.
The Delhi Capitals had acquired Brook for INR 6.25 Crore during the mega auction held in November. Unfortunately, this marks the second consecutive year that Brook has opted out of the IPL, which now places him at risk of a potential competition ban.
The IPL recently instituted a rule stating, “Any player who registers for the player auction and, after being picked, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season, will be banned from participating in the tournament and player auction for two seasons.” Exceptions are made for withdrawals due to injuries or medical conditions.
In a statement released on his social media platforms, Brook explained his decision: “This is a pivotal moment for England cricket, and I wish to be fully prepared for the upcoming series. To achieve this, I need time to recuperate after what has been the busiest period of my career thus far. I understand not everyone will agree with my decision, but I must do what I feel is right. Representing my country remains my foremost priority.”
Last season, Brook was unable to join the Delhi Capitals due to a bereavement, having played only one IPL season to date— with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023.
