24.03.2025India Set to Unleash 156.7 Kmph Pace Sensation for IPL 2025 Opener? Reports Suggest…
Emerging pace prodigy Mayank Yadav has resumed bowling in the nets as the commencement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season approaches, following a report from NDTV Sports Desk dated March 18, 2025.
At present, Mayank Yadav, who has previously clocked speeds exceeding 156 kmph, is undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to recover from a lumbar stress injury sustained after making his T20I debut for India against Bangladesh last October. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are currently awaiting clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding his fitness status.
The 22-year-old fast bowler attracted attention during his inaugural IPL season, consistently delivering speeds over 150 kmph. In his debut year, he played four matches and took seven wickets, earning two consecutive Player of the Match awards before being sidelined by an injury.
In anticipation of last year’s major auction, LSG retained Mayank for INR 11 crore following his impactful debut season. Initially, he joined the franchise for INR 20 lakh as an uncapped player prior to the 2024 season.
Although the BCCI has not officially disclosed detailed information about Mayank’s condition, it is understood that he is dealing with a stress-related issue in his left lower back. Former India paceman and current LSG team director, Zaheer Khan, communicated in February that the franchise is actively partnering with the BCCI’s medical experts to address Mayank’s rehabilitation. Khan emphasized LSG’s commitment to ensuring Mayank’s full recovery before his return to the field. “We want him not just 100% fit but 150% fit, and we’re doing everything necessary to achieve that,” he stated.
LSG’s season opener is scheduled against the Delhi Capitals on March 24 in Visakhapatnam, with Rishabh Pant captaining the opposition.
