Kolkata Knight Riders have officially signed left-arm fast bowler Chetan Sakariya as a replacement for Umran Malik for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Malik, who was acquired by the reigning champions for INR 75 lakh, has unfortunately been sidelined due to an undisclosed injury.
The 27-year-old Sakariya was initially enlisted by KKR ahead of their triumphant campaign last season but did not participate in any matches. He was subsequently left without a team during the mega auction conducted last year. However, he now gets an opportunity to showcase his talent as a replacement signing, with KKR investing INR 75 lakh for his services.
Sakariya boasts experience with 19 IPL appearances across three seasons (2021-23), during which he has claimed 20 wickets at an economy rate of 8.43. He began his IPL journey with the Rajasthan Royals before transitioning to the Delhi Capitals in 2022. Across all T20 matches, he has accumulated 65 wickets from 46 games with an impressive economy rate of 7.69.
