25.03.2025**Lucknow Super Giants Team Engages with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath**
In preparation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had the distinguished opportunity to meet with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, on Monday. This meeting, which saw the presence of team owner Sanjiv Goenka and team captain Rishabh Pant, served as a courteous engagement, where the Chief Minister imparted his wishes for a successful IPL season.
During this assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commended the team’s past performances, highlighting their talent, discipline, and adherence to sportsmanship. He articulated his belief that the team would strive towards achieving the IPL 2025 trophy, stating, “The Lucknow Super Giants have showcased exceptional performances in previous seasons. This team epitomizes dedication, discipline, and the true spirit of the sport. I am confident that they will continue to make the state proud with their performances.”
Present at the meeting were numerous key players, members of the coaching staff, and management officials, including Rishabh Pant, Aryan Juyal, Himmat Singh, Abdul Samad, among others. LSG is scheduled to commence their IPL 2025 campaign against the Delhi Capitals, a team previously captained by Pant, on March 24 at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
The Lucknow Super Giants reached the playoffs in the IPL seasons of 2022 and 2023, exiting during the Eliminator stage both times. However, in IPL 2024, the team ended the season in seventh position on the points table.
Rishabh Pant, renowned for his exceptional skills as a left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman, became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL when acquired by LSG for a record Rs 27 crore at last year’s mega auction. He now assumes the role of LSG’s fourth captain following KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, and Krunal Pandya.
This season will mark Pant’s second stint as an IPL team captain, having previously led Delhi Capitals from 2021 to 2024, with the exception of the 2023 season, which he missed while recuperating from injuries sustained in a car accident in December 2022.
