The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is set to bestow lifetime achievement awards upon esteemed figures Dilip Vengsarkar and Ratnakar Shetty. His Excellency, Governor of Maharashtra, CP Radhakrishnan, will present these prestigious awards at the MCA Sharad Pawar Indoor Cricket Academy and Recreation Centre, BKC, Mumbai, this Thursday.
Dilip Vengsarkar, a former captain of the Indian cricket team with an illustrious career spanning 116 Test matches, was also a pivotal member of the legendary 1983 World Cup-winning squad. Ratnakar Shetty is recognized for his extensive tenure and invaluable contributions as a veteran administrator within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In addition, MCA will also recognize the accomplishments of Diana Edulji, former captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, and administrator Pravin Barve.
MCA President Ajinkya Naik remarked: “Mumbai Cricket has consistently been the lifeblood of Indian cricket, nurturing legends who have played seminal roles in shaping the sport. While we celebrate our rich history, our ambitions are resolutely future-focused—fostering new talent, advancing our facilities, and maintaining Mumbai’s standing as a formidable force in Indian cricket.
“Through our steadfast dedication to grassroots development, player well-being, and excellence at every level, we aim to fortify Mumbai’s cricketing heritage and set the stage for the next wave of champions. The future of Mumbai cricket shines brightly, and together, we will propel it to unprecedented heights.”
