As of the latest updates, Bangladesh’s esteemed pace bowler, Mustafizur Rahman, appears poised to re-enter the realms of competitive cricket following a necessary period of rest and rejuvenation. This hiatus comes after he received a Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection on Wednesday, March 12. Known for his prowess with the ball, Mustafizur drew significant attention during the recent player transfers of the Dhaka Premier League—a prestigious List A tournament in Bangladesh—despite not securing a team.
The PRP therapy is a sophisticated treatment that entails injecting a concentrated dose of the patient’s own platelets into an injured region to promote healing, reduce inflammation, accelerate tissue repair, and alleviate pain.
A reliable source from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical unit informed Cricbuzz, “Mustafizur was administered a PRP injection, and he will require a brief rest before resuming activities on the field. Although he has no new injuries, occasional discomfort persists in the left shoulder previously operated on, which he manages while playing.”
Typically, PRP injections are instrumental in initiating the healing process and minimizing pain through tissue regeneration, with recovery usually spanning seven to ten days.
Speculations suggest that Mustafizur is aiming to return to the Dhaka Premier League post the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations. Additionally, there are rumors about his potential participation in the Indian Premier League, albeit without any official confirmation. Mustafizur might also choose to represent Prime Bank Cricket Club, a team he was part of in the DPL last year.
A Prime Bank official stated, “We are keen to see when Mustafizur regains full fitness. If he does and fits within our budget, we would certainly want him on board.”
