21.03.2025**A Rare and Unprecedented Dismissal Shocks the Cricket World in National T20 Cup**
In a remarkable turn of events that left spectators and players alike in disbelief, one of cricket’s most unusual dismissals unfolded during the National T20 Cup match between Lahore Region Whites and Larkana Region in Faisalabad on Monday. Electing to bat first, Lahore set an imposing target by amassing 215/4 in 20 overs, largely thanks to an explosive 116 off 56 balls from Mohammad Faiq. In response, Larkana’s innings crumbled, managing just 81 runs and conceding victory to Lahore by a staggering 134 runs.
The match, however, gained notoriety for the peculiar dismissal of Larkana batsman Bilal Irshad. During the fourth over, as Kamran Afzal delivered the ball, Bilal attempted a shot. Surprisingly, before the ball even reached the bat, Lahore’s wicketkeeper Muhammad Akhlaq appealed for an out. Confounded by the appeal, Bilal, along with the umpires, referred the decision to the third umpire. Subsequently, it was discovered that Bilal’s bat had inadvertently struck the stumps, dislodging the bails, and he was adjudged out hit-wicket. This unprecedented incident swiftly became the talk of the cricketing community, spotlighted by a tweet from Abdul Wasay:
“#NationalT20 at its very best. Never seen a batter getting hit-wicket like this.”
With this victory, Lahore secured their first win from two matches, climbing to second place in Group A’s standings, while Larkana suffered their second defeat, anchoring them at the bottom. Lahore’s dominance was evident not only in batting but also in their commanding bowling performance. Kamran Afzal, the standout bowler, captured four wickets, supported by Mohammad Salman who took two. Meanwhile, Larkana’s Mushtaq Ahmed, despite claiming two wickets, conceded 51 runs in his four overs, with Zahid Mahmood and Imitiaz Legari claiming one wicket each.
