22.03.2025### New Appointments to the Asian Cricket Council
Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shellar have been appointed as representatives on the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), effective immediately. This strategic move enhances BCCI’s influence within the regional cricketing body.
Rajeev Shukla, a seasoned administrator with extensive experience within Indian cricket governance, including roles as IPL Chairman, will join the ACC board as an Executive Member. Meanwhile, Ashish Shellar, who boasts a robust track record from his tenure at the Mumbai Cricket Association and as the BCCI treasurer, will contribute as an Ex-Officio Board Member. These appointments follow the ascension of Jay Shah to ICC Chair.
An immediate priority for the ACC board will be the planning and execution of the Asia Cup, provisionally slated for September in the T20 format. As previously reported by Cricbuzz, the tournament will take place in a neutral country due to India-Pakistan diplomatic considerations, with BCCI retaining hosting duties. The venue for this high-profile event is still under discussion, with Sri Lanka and the UAE being potential candidates.
Looking ahead, this cycle includes four Asia Cups concluding in 2031. The schedule is as follows: the 2025 edition comprising 19 matches, the 2027 edition in Bangladesh featuring 13 ODI games, and another T20 format competition hosted by Pakistan but contested in a neutral location. The cycle will culminate with the 2031 edition set to be held in Sri Lanka, consisting of 13 ODI games.
These developments highlight the dynamic landscape of cricket administration in the Asian region, with significant implications for future tournaments.
