26.03.2025### RCB Confronts Significant Accusations Ahead of IPL 2025: Concerns Over Team Cohesion
As the onset of IPL 2025 approaches, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) grapple with substantial allegations regarding the team’s dynamics. Shadab Jakati, a former spinner for RCB, recently shared his insights on why the franchise is yet to secure an Indian Premier League (IPL) championship.
Having been part of the RCB squad for a brief stint in 2014, albeit with limited opportunities on the field, Jakati criticizes the franchise’s strategy of over-relying on a select few players, a formula he deems ineffective for securing IPL success. Historically, the team has faced scrutiny for its dependency on figures like Virat Kohli and prominent international players. Jakati emphasizes that success in the IPL hinges on a well-balanced team composition, a consistency he attributes to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
“A successful cricket team thrives on unity. To clinch a trophy, the team must function as a cohesive unit; relying on just two to three players is insufficient,” Jakati articulated in a conversation with Sportskeeda. He contrasted RCB’s approach with CSK’s robust combination of Indian and international talent, noting CSK’s superior management and the nurturing of team spirit.
Reflecting on his experience with the 2010 CSK team, Jakati highlighted key differences in management styles. “The contrasts were stark regarding team management and dressing room atmosphere. While RCB boasted talented players, the lack of camaraderie and team cohesion was evident,” Jakati observed. He praised CSK’s management for their player-centric approach, which has contributed to their record-equalling five championship titles.
Jakati underscored the impact of effective team management, explaining, “Chennai’s management was exemplary in treating their players well, significant factors that set them apart from RCB.”
As RCB prepares to commence their IPL 2025 campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders, these insights shed light on the ongoing challenges within the team.
